According to UL's announcement, the UL62275 standard will officially come into effect on February 26, 2013. At that time, cable ties or similar fixtures (whether listed or approved by UL, made of metal, polymer or mixed materials) that have been previously evaluated according to UL1565 standards will need to undergo an industrial file review process to determine whether they comply with the new UL62275 standard.
UL62275 is based on the IEC62275 standard, which references relevant standards such as IEC, ISO, NFPA, etc. It integrates the differences of countries such as the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and has been adopted as their respective national standards by organizations such as ANSI (American National Standards Institute), SCC (Canadian Standards Council), and ANCE (Mexican National Certification Authority). The current UL62275 standard is the first edition and officially came into effect on February 26, 2013. The deadline for archive review is November 1, 2012. UL will no longer accept audit requests after the deadline. After the new standard comes into effect, unaudited UL archives/certificates will be revoked
According to the Plastic Wiring Equipment Professional Committee (CPPIC-PWAC) of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association (CPPIA), the demand for plastic wiring equipment (cable ties, wire clips, positioning pieces, wire caps, number tubes, winding tubes, etc.) in China is growing at a rate of over 30% per year. At present, there are more than 100 plastic wiring equipment production enterprises in China, of which more than 80 are concentrated in the Yueqing area of Wenzhou. There are more than 40 large-scale enterprises, and seven or eight have an annual output value of over 100 million yuan. According to UL statistics, as of the end of March 2012, there were a total of 13 UL files for wire ties in Zhejiang Province, involving 11 enterprises, and none of them have completed the standard version change work
In view of the approaching deadline for archive review and the effective date of the new standards, Wenzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminds all relevant enterprises to attach great importance to this announcement, immediately start preparing, and file archive review applications with UL as soon as possible to avoid affecting the effectiveness of certification and market sales performance
